Pierre Auguste Renoir's
home, "Les Collettes", as it was known, is located in
Cagnes Sur Mer, France, near Nice. Renoir is reputed to have purchased
the property to prevent the magnificent ancient olive trees from
being cut down for a development project. Perhaps he was an early
conservationist as well as an extraordinary painter.
Even though Renoir was
a contemporary to Monet, not as much is known about his home,
"Les Collettes". In this evocative work, "Chez
Renoir", Mark King leads you onto the grounds surrounding
the home and studio of Renoir.
King has studied and marveled
at Renoir's works and those of other great Masters throughout
his own long, distinguished and multifaceted career. In this Homage
Series, King pays glowing tribute through his knowing perceptions
of the artistry in combining technique and media. The relaxed,
yet masterful elegance of the radian signature style, inherent
in all King's paintings, demonstrates his philosophically sensitive
approach to his work. |
